Photovoltaic solutions for the caravanning industry

Self-sufficient on the road - thanks to Hartmann Caravan and solar systems from Green Energy.

Feeling boundless freedom and living out your love of nature - that's what camping is all about. But achieving freedom and independence is often easier said than done - especially when it comes to independence from the power grid. The perfect solution for this: our solar cell packages for caravans and motorhomes from Green Energy. Unlike conventional solar cells with cells made of crystalline silicon, the CIGS solar cells developed by Green Energy are flexible and extremely resistant.

The consumers in the caravan or motorhome can be operated with such solar systems even in cloudy weather and without external power supply. This means that with an appropriately dimensioned PV system, you no longer need to run your caravan or motor home on electricity. Independently of the aspect of improved sustainability, this also saves you money. Camping vacations thus become much more attractive.

The Hartmann family can also tell you a thing or two about the appeal of independent travel: The desire for freedom was and is also with the Hartmanns one of the most important reasons that they have always traveled a lot with their camper throughout Europe.

About 3 years ago, the parents Ruth and Hanspeter created the basis for the caravanning family. In the meantime, the siblings Anita and Andreas are building their own brand on this foundation: "Hartmann Caravaning Service & Care" - an exciting task that they are all passionate about.

The advantages of solar cells for mobile homes and caravans.

If you rely on solar power, you are protecting the environment - that much is clear. But these are by no means the only advantages of solar cells on the motorhome:

  • You are self-sufficient and neither dependent on shore power nor on the running engine.
  • Stays away from campsites and parking spaces become possible
  • You save money: Once the solar system is installed on the roof, it provides free electricity for decades.
  • No noise, odors or vibrations are generated during power generation, as is the case with generators, for example.
  • It is a sustainable and CO2-free method of electricity generation

About electricity consumption in camping

Modern caravans and motorhomes are equipped with electrical consumers such as refrigerators, heating and air conditioning, which make camping more comfortable. But also smartphone, notebook and coffee machine usually come with the luggage. All these things consume electricity, of course.

Those who want to camp self-sufficiently and not be dependent on shore power should therefore know their power consumption - this is also good to know for the purchase of a suitable solar system and battery. The average power consumption is made up of various factors, such as the equipment, the built-in consumers and the individual use of these things. In addition, you should also keep in mind that in winter you usually consume more electricity than in summer.

If you want to calculate your daily consumption, you have to make a sum of all used consumers and the respective duration of use. The best way to do this is to create a table with the respective consumption value and the duration of use. Finally, the consumption can be calculated with the following formula:

Power consumption (ampere-hours) = power (amps) * time (hours).
