EUROPART supplies Josef Paul GmbH & Co. KG with solar cell sets from Green Energy

EUROPART and the Paul Group in Passau and Vilshofen are cooperating on solar cells for mobile use. Josef Paul GmbH & Co.KG, sales and service partner for Mercedes-Benz, MAN Truck & Bus as well as for motorhomes of the brands Bürstner, Hymer and Sunlight, will install the novel solar cell sets of the Scandinavian manufacturer Green Energy in trucks as well as in motorhomes. This spring, workshop employees will receive technical training on how to install the mobile solar systems. In addition, the group of companies will be certified as a Green Energy installation center for buses, trucks and mobile homes. EUROPART is the exclusive distributor of Green Energy solar systems for Europe. The Paul Group and EUROPART are connected by more than 20 years of cooperation in commercial vehicle spare parts.

"In trucks, buses and motor homes, the number of electrical consumers has increased more and more in recent years," explains Reinhold Altendorfer, purchasing manager at Josef Paul. "This puts a strain on batteries and leads to increased fuel consumption. Deep-discharged batteries are a common cause of failure. Solar cells on the vehicle roof ensure a reliable power supply and a constantly high charge level of the batteries."

Flexible and robust solar cells for the vehicle roof

The Danish company Green Energy specializes in the development of solar systems for mobile applications. Unlike conventional solar cells with cells made of crystalline silicon, the CIGS solar cells developed by the company are flexible and extremely resistant, protecting them from damage as well as spontaneous combustion. In addition, the novel solar cells generate electricity even at low solar irradiation and therefore ensure a high energy yield. Thanks to their thin and very flexible design of only three millimeters, the solar cells are particularly suitable for use on vehicle roofs or other mobile applications. Sales partner EUROPART supplies the solar cells in preconfigured MIPV (Mobile Integrated Photovoltaic) sets including charge controller, isolating relay, fuse and matching inverter in various power levels. Data loggers, matching silicon batteries and 230-volt inverters for connecting standard electrical appliances are available as options. The sets are certified, which preserves the vehicle manufacturer's factory warranty. EUROPART offers the solar cell sets in different sizes and power classes.
