Mercedes-Benz: buses of all classes
Mercedes-Benz readily promotes itself as a 'full product-line provider' in the bus sector i.e. able to offer all types of vehicles. And the product portfolio actually does range from the small Sprinter bus and the Citaro low-floor bus to the three-axle luxury high-decker bus called Travego. Whether it's for public service buses, intercity or long-distance transport, the Mercedes-Benz portfolio offers a suitable solution for every need. As well as complete buses, Mercedes-Benz has also made a name for itself globally with its chassis, which also meet all the needs of the market.
Buses for small groups: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Using the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter as the base model, Mercedes-Benz also offers the Sprinter City, the Sprinter Transfer, the Sprinter Travel and the Sprinter Mobility. The Stuttgart-based company has thus created its own broad range of minibuses, from the low-floor bus for city use to the luxury minibus for travel. Closing the gap in the series of Citaro low-floor public service vehicles has been achieved by the Sprinter City 77, which at 8.7m long provides seats for up to 40 passengers. The Sprinter models are powered by a 2.2 litre Euro 6 four-cylinder engine delivering up to 140 kW / 190 PS.
Public service vehicles for the world: the Citaro
In 1997, Mercedes-Benz presented the first generation Citaro to the public. To date, more than 40,000 Citaros have been delivered around the world. Being one of the first providers to do so, Mercedes-Benz equipped its public service vehicles with a Euro 6 engine according to the latest exhaust emission standard. To meet the different requirements of public service transport, Mercedes-Benz offers the Citaro as the Citaro, Citaro K or Citaro G, with lengths of 10.6m, 12.1m and 18.10m. In addition there is the Citaro LE, a model with a low-floor entrance and a raised rear section. The CapaCity L plays an important role. This public service vehicle, designed for modern BRT systems with bus lanes and high passenger volumes, measures 21m in length and can accept up to 191 passengers on board.
The intercity specialist: Intouro
With Intouro, Integro and the Citaro Ü, Mercedes-Benz covers the intercity bus segment as well as dual-purpose vehicles which can be used both in tourist and public service transport. The Integro is available in three lengths (12, 13 and 15 metres). A small luggage hold with up to 6.2 cubic metres space and coach-style passenger seats make this suitable for short trips. The two-axle Intouro comes in three lengths: Intouro at 12.14 m long, Intouro M at 12.64 m and Intouro L at 13.32 m. Different engines are available for both buses, with either 7.7 litres or 10.7 litres and delivering up to 290 kW / 394 PS.
The coach from Istanbul: Tourismo
In 1994, Mercedes-Benz presented the first Tourismo. Since then, more than 21,000 vehicles of this type have rolled off the production line at the factory in Istanbul, Turkey. While the high-decker coach was originally only available in one length, the current generation covers all possible lengths with its Tourismo K, Tourismo RH, Tourismo RH M, Tourismo, Tourismo M / 2, Tourismo M and Tourismo L. For the engine, Mercedes-Benz offers the OM 936 with 260 kW / 354 PS for the Tourismo K, OM 470 Blue Efficiency Power with 265 kW / 360 PS or 315 kW / 428 PS, depending on the size of the vehicle.
Premium coach: Travego
The Mercedes-Benz Travego is the flagship Mercedes-Benz range. The manufacturer offers three versions of this vehicle: Travego (12.18m), Travego M (13m) and Travego L (14.03m). All versions are powered by the 10.7 litre six-cylinder in-line Mercedes-Benz engine OM 457 LA with 315 kW / 428 PS. Mercedes-Benz offers the latest safety technology in its Travego premium coach, such as Lane Keeping Assist, adaptive cruise control or the new Active Brake Assist ABA3, which prevents collisions with fixed obstacles.
