The Italian commercial vehicle manufacturer Iveco from Turin is part of the Fiat group. The name comes form the initials of Industrial Vehicles Corporation. Alongside trucks in the Eurocargo, Stralis and Trakker series, the Italians have been successfully represented in the van sector with the Daily for many years. The Daily can justifiably be described as a "global" vehicle. More than 2.6 million Daily vehicles have been sold to date in over 110 countries worldwide. The large van rolls off the line at the Iveco factory in Suzzara near Mantova, Italy and at the Iveco factory in Valladolid, Spain.
Almost a truck: the Iveco Daily
With its ladder frame structure that creates a robust and versatile chassis, the Daily has always been considered as the middle ground between vans and small trucks. In June 2014, Iveco presented the third generation of the Daily. By revising the relationships between the wheelbase, total length and useful length, the loading capacity of the panel van, which was already high, has once again been increased considerably. With up to 17.2 cubic metres of loading volume, the predecessor had kept the top spot in its vehicle category for many years, but Iveco has now exceeded this with up to 20 cubic metres in the new generation. The new dimensions result from new wheelbases between 3,000 and 4,750 millimetres and new total vehicle lengths.
Choice of two engines, up to 205 PS
The new Daily is designed for a total weight between 3.3 and 7.2 tonnes and for a chassis load-bearing capacities of up to 4,900 kilograms. The models up to 3.5 tonnes have a new suspension at the front axle. Two engines with power output levels from 78 to 151 kW (106 to 205 PS) can be selected: a 2.3 litre diesel unit and a 3.0 litre diesel or natural gas engine. All versions can be supplied with a choice of a six-speed manual transmission or an automatic AGile™ transmission. Iveco is also the first manufacturer in its category to offer the innovative 8-speed Hi-Matic automatic transmission. The new Daily is available as a panel van, standard cab, double cab, part-glazed panel van, minibus and chassis cowl.
